Visualizing CloudWatch Logs: Centralized Logging

Many applications at Disney Streaming Services are built as distributed systems, leveraging a variety of tools on the AWS cloud from Kinesis Data Analytics to ECS to Lambda. With this sort of design, monitoring and observability can be a challenge.

AWS CloudWatch Logs Insights is a great tool when logging within the AWS ecosystem, but to solve an arising need for a centralized logging solution we decided to migrate to DataDog. This post will detail how we migrated one project and provide a roadmap for migrating your own logs to DataDog.
